HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Happy 2012 friends!
wow, I know how many of you found 2011 easy, but I can honestly say, I struggled so much this year, I've just about crawled into 2012 but you know whatt... ! made it! And I'm just so grateful.
I failed so many times this year, I fell so many times, had many victories but so many disappointments, but every day I woke up in the morning. Thats a blessing in itself. I woke up 365 days, thats 365 blessings. Not to mention all the hugs and support and love I got, the people that stood by me, the promises God made me, the distructive friendships that ended and the productive friendships that were formed. So in actual fact we had over 365 blessings in one year, thats more than one blessing a day! We have nothing to complain about really!!
I wonder how many of you have seemingly impossible mountains to climb this year? I know I have! But I believe God will come through!!
I did set myself a lot of goals for the year but I'm not counting on myself to make them happen. I have allowed God to do the transformation in my life, it may not happen right away but it'll be worth the wait.
I just wanted to say happy new year to you all, I want to encourage you all to continue believing in God Mark 10:27 says "with man this is impossible but not with God, for with God, nothing shall be impossible" !!!! how do ya like them apples!?
If you believe anything is possible with God this year, then team up with God, humble yourself under his authority, submit yourself to his will and set goals that you can not accomplish by mankinds standards! they WILL happen!
God Bless

Flesh and Blood: Part One- Young Adult Living at Home
Along with sexual temptation, financial wisdom, identity and individuality, I'd say living under the submission of parents is one of the hardest challenges we as young adults will face. By ages 18-25 we want to make our own rules, and be free to ditch the ways of doing things that were forced upon us by our parents at younger ages.
Some young adults dont have this issue at all, some have exemplary relationships with their parents and love to live among them until it is their time to launch out. other young adults fear independance and love to be at home while others disagree with their parents on almost everything and can not wait to see the door!
This article is for the latter, for those who love thier parents dearly but just can not live with them for another year or they think they might just go mad!
First of all lets us acknowledge what the word of God says "Deuteronomy 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you."
the word of God describes this commandment as "the first commandment with promise" (Eph 6:2) if you read through Exodus 20 you'll find that this is true.
I found this commandment the hardest because I actually had big problems with living alongside my parents.
We would argue all the time about all sorts of things, I felt restricted and frusrated, I felt like I was not heard at times and that made me bitter toward them. she felt as if i never talked to them about anything or spent anytime with them.
But praise God, we worked out our differences! not move out yet but at least i'll be able to live in peace and according to Gods word until i do!
steps to take to handle the situation
1) Acknowledge your own responsibility.
The bible instructs parents not to provoke their children to anger so they do not become discouraged (Eph 6:4). However your parents might not be saved, or they just might be extremely stubborn. Either way, whether our parents decide to do their bit or not, we must still do OUR bit! we must accept our own responsibility which is to honor them, whether they are right or wrong, whether they are polite about it or plain out of order we must treat them with love and respect. It is the hardest thing to do but once we understand why, we can see that it is worth it. By honoring our parents we honor God, by humbling ourselves under thier authority we become righteous. its not about who wins the argument or who gets their way, you may not get your way. The point is that God is glorified, simple. It's been MAD DIFFICULT But I know that God has been pleased with my submission.
2) learn to pray
the bible says in Zech 4:6 that "its not by might, its not by power, but its by my spirit thus sayeth the lord" we can not become humble without the power of the holy spirit. I have a lot of pride, this causes me to become puffed up when i'm in a conflict with my parents and that, for years is what had caused so much arguments in the home. i felt like it was my place to regulate my parents and get them to stop doing the things that annoyed me and get them to stop trying to "control" me. i didnt understand that they were the "authority" and i had no right to challenge them. i felt even more frustrated when i discovered i could not challenge them until i took the situation to prayer! God showed me through his word that even Jesus humbled himself under the goverment of Mary and Jospeh and did what they said until it was his time to branch out and look after himself. that set me straight and helped me tame my pride.
3) accept them for who they are
we cant change people and we cant select our parents, but what we can do is accept them for who they are. we can not change their habits or their flaws but we can learn to adapt and adjust to them so that we can live in peace and happiness.
4) love actively
once you come to these realisations, clearly its time to do more than just obey and abide but its time to show love. be a pleasure to be around, it helps. what i did was went and bought a little booklet called "coupons of love for mom" inside it were little coupons that say things like "this coupon entitles you to know where i am at all times" and "today you will have my undivided attention, talk to me" they also had little scriptures on the back, every now and then i'd tear one out and bring it to my mum in the morning with a cup of coffee. this changed things tremendously, i became SO humble by doing this. i was so vulnerable because sometimes my mother wouldnt recieve the coupons with love, i'd feel insulted sometimes and sometimes the flesh would try and stop me from bringing the coupon and the coffee upstairs because of pride. but I had to do it and discipline myself to love and honor my mother. 1 cor 13 explains the importance of showing love. its the foundations of everything.
God Bless. I hope this is a help to you :)

In order to LEAD a team, you must be humble enough to know you NEED the team!
One trait that runs through every member of J427 youth group is "Leadership" we all have an innate desire to bring dreams alive and lead teams to success.
This blog has been bubbling down in my spirit for quite some time, and rose to the surface of my being when I sat in Vue cinema Stratford to witness the revolutionary screening of One Way the film.
I was taken aback by the undeniable example of leadership exhibited by @TundayMusic , it was then that I decided I would blog about 'Leadership'. Obviously being the terrible procrastinator that I am, I made a cup of tea and tweeted instead. Four nights later at my work Christmas dinner in Canary Wharf I was starstruck by the entrance of Ashley Banjo (lead dancer of dance troupe Diversity). After I re-gained my composure I began to reflect on how much I truly admire his leadership too.
This is when the topic finally detonated in my mind and I began to study the characteristics and traits of a leader.
What youth need is an awesome leader, someone who can make a decision, someone who believes in their goals and visions and can bring out the best in everyone in the team. A leader doesn't look back and and their unshakable confidence is what allows the rest of the team to trust and follow.
@TundayMusic did not lead Write-Way music to Vue Cinema in Stratford by umm-ing and ahh-ing, he did not do it by changing his mind or doubt that it was possible. When Presha J showed an immediate distaste in the idea, Tunday did not back down, his unyielding belief lead Presha J to trust and and get behind him. Tunday did not lead the team by adopting the fallacy that he is the "boss" he understands that God is the boss, he understands that without Presha J, Rhema or Leke Write-Way music is No-Way Music! He knows how to bring out the best in every one in the team, he knows that they all bring something different and needed to the table and i believe its his ability to stick to his guns and not look back that made that dream a reality!
Ashley Banjo is one of my inspirations because I can see his passion for his dance goes beyond a 'recreational activity'. He is gifted to dance and works tirelessy to choreograph and train the group. He also knows how to bring out the best in each dancer and he understands that without them, Diversity is just Ashley. They trust him and follow him, he comes up with ideas and they jump on the bandwagon and this is because his confidence in his goals does not weaken.
There are so many amazing leaders that our generation have to thank for inspiration; if i've learnt anything it's this... in order to lead a team I need to be humble enough to know that I NEED the team!

... is where your heart is
where is your heart? when wake up in the morning and push yourself to achieve things, what is your motivation? what do you work for?
ask yourself why you do what you do, then ask yourself if it worth doing. who do you do it all for? yourself? others?
I ask because that seems to be something we struggle with as human beings, we follow crowds and agree with multitudes and contradict ourselves for the sake of being accepted into society or different social groups.
Why do you buy into certain fashions and apply for certain jobs? its about time we identify ourselves, find out who we really are, what we really love and what makes us happy.
its time to stop trying to be like everyone else and stop trying to please people if what we are doing is all for the wrong reasons.
I'd love to encourage you to live for God and humble yourself under every word that proceeds out of His mouth, I'd love to give you the gospel of Jesus Christ but I'm not blogging today to tell you all that. I'll touch on that in a few days so make sure you log on and take a look.
Today I'm speaking to the lost and confused, those who haven't got a clue who they are or what they live for or why, and I'm speaking to those who cant quite put a finger on whats missing in their life.
Go off, search yourself, find out who you are and what you'd like to live for, dont follow the crowd or pollute your mind with lies that tell you that you'll never be enough unless you look or behave a certain way.
we are all individuals, beautifully and wonderfully made for a specific purpose in this world, we all just have to understand what that purpose is, and it starts when we discover who we are and what makes us happy.
